Death & Resurrection

When a character dies and is restored by any effect short of true resurrection, he does not suffer level loss as per the core rules. Instead, the following happens:

  • The character loses XP equal to 12 the amount required to advance to his current level from the previous level. (See the chart below for details.)
  • If this XP loss puts the character below the required XP for his current level, until such time as he surpasses that mark again, he is considered to have one negative level. This replaces the normal de-leveling process. This negative level never results in actual level loss. (See "Energy Drain and Negative Levels" on the d20 SRD for more details.)
  • If the character was 1st level, he loses 2 points of Constitution as normal.
  • XP total cannot drop below 0.
  • In the case of multiple resurrection or raise dead spells, the character's actual character level is used, and negative levels do not count in this calculation.
