Many aspects of the Celdic Empire’s history, culture, and politics may be profitably viewed through the lens of the Empire’s relationship with arcane magic and its users.

“Imperial archmage” was a civilian rank in Celdanna. It was bestowed, by the Emperor, on arcanists of great accomplishment. It was a non-hereditary, landed title; an archmage received substantial land grant from the Empire, and was also granted a variety of privileges.
