The capital city of Asvidere.
Beautiful St. Annesburg1 is a sprawling city of broad avenues, soaring bridges, and solemn cathedrals. On its wide plazas stand magnificent statues of Asvidere’s heroes, and the clip-clop of hoofbeats sounds day and night as horse-drawn carriages rush down St. Annesburg’s cobblestone streets.
Though the city is hardly three centuries old, it has the air of antiquity about it, having been built in imitation of the austere, yet elegant, architectural styles of the ancients. Likewise borrowed from the works of ancient scholars (though enhanced with all the most modern alchemical and magical techniques) is the city’s sanitation system, which ensures that St. Annesburg is almost wholly free of the choking miasma of filth that plagues many other cities.
1 Named after Anne of the Northern Glades, a “crusader saint” and the patron saint of Marshal Tozin (later King Johann I), who, three hundred years ago, united Asvidere under his rule and founded St. Annesburg as his new capital. ⇑
