You curse the target, causing him to be crushed with depression and to doubt his self-worth. The target must make a Will save, or be cursed and immediately suffer a −1 morale penalty to all attack rolls, saving throws, ability checks, and skill checks. Every day thereafter, he takes an additional, cumulative −1 morale penalty every day, to a maximum penalty equal to the target’s Hit Dice, unless he succeeds at a Will save. Succeeding at this Will save instead reduces his existing penalty by 1. The curse is ended if the target successfully reduces this penalty to 0.

Once the target is afflicted with the maximum morale penalty (i.e., a penalty equal to his hit dice), he must make a Will save or be immediately compelled to commit suicide using the most expedient method available. Making a successful Will save against this effect ends the curse.

The verbal component for this spell is only a heart-rending insult or curse (in a language which you are able to speak and the target is able to understand) which directly affects the subject’s ego. As such, it is indistinguishable from any normal speech, and thus allows no Spellcraft check made to identify the spell as it is being cast. The insidious effect of this curse can only be felt as soul-crushing despair. When a target makes a save against this spell, the Spellcraft DC to identify the effect is increased by your caster level.

Nikolai’s crushing malediction does not generate a magical aura, as if affected by a nondetection spell. If a divination such as detect magic or similar attempts to detect this spell, the caster of the divination must succeed at a caster level check of DC 11 + your caster level.

This curse can only be removed by break enchantment, wish, or miracle.
