A sorcerer-businessman — a magical crafter and enchanter, purveyor of rare goods, and professional middleman of the magic items market — living in the Cherkess city of Maikop. Salim has had a long and friendly business relationship with the player characters. Though this association has caused him occasional inconvenience, and has even endangered his life on one occasion (when the cleric Anton Saratov? invaded Salim's home in order to ambush the PCs), the sorcerer bears no grudge against the PCs, writing such things off as expected perils of doing business. Salim is polite without fail, gracious and hospitable in the traditional Cherkess manner, patient, understanding, and, as is most critical for a man of his profession, quite discreet. Salim has also, on occasion, provided the PCs with information about the goings-on in Cherkess society, though he is far removed from the intrigues of the capital and the court.
While the PCs may be his most lucrative private customers, Salim has seen business boom of late as threats to Cherkessia rise. With the "monster invasion", and worries of a war between the djinn and the efreet?, the Ivory Citadel has increasingly turned to private enchanters and crafters to fulfill its need for magical equipment as the elite of Cherkess society prepare for what may be difficult times ahead.
