Sun Elemental
A powerful elemental creature made of pure solar radiance.
General information
Birthed in the all-consuming radiance of the sun’s burning heart, sun elementals serve sun-gods as emissaries and warriors. They are incarnations of all that is good, pure, and radiant, and are glad to help defend all life from darkness and death.
Sun elementals appear as 22-foot tall humanoid figures made of pure energy. They suffuse everything around them with light, glowing as brightly as the noonday sun.
Sun elementals never wield weapons, instead relying on the powerful solar light suffusing their bodies. They are fearful of darkness and will only venture underground in the direst situation.

Special Abilities
- Blinding Radiance (Su)
- At will, a sun elemental can increase the brightness of its energy halo so that it radiates brilliant light to a radius of 120 feet (and shadowy illumination to 240 feet). Any creature within this radius must make a DC 27 Fortitude save or be blinded for 1d10 rounds. The save DC is Charisma-based. Creatures with light sensitivity take double the normal penalties in this brilliant light.
Those creatures not blinded by the radiance are treated to a powerful revealing effect. All illusions and all forms of invisibility within the area of blinding radiance are automatically dispelled. Even creatures with a supernatural or extraordinary invisibility power are rendered temporarily visible. Hiding is not possible within this light. - Consuming Brilliance (Su)
- Three times per day, a sun elemental can create an instantaneous burst of energy so intense that it reduces all creatures and objects within 20 feet to a trace of fine dust, dealing 24d6 points of damage, as the disintegrate spell. A successful DC 27 Fortitude save means the creature resists disintegration, instead taking only 5d6 points of damage. The save DC is Charisma-based.
- Light Rays (Ex)
- A sun elemental in firestar form can project light rays with a range of 300 feet. This attack overcomes all forms of damage reduction.
- Alternate Form (Su)
- As a standard action at will, a sun elemental may switch between its humanoid form and the form of an incorporeal star-like globe of fire and light. In humanoid form, the elemental can use its slam attacks, but it cannot fly or use light rays. In firestar form, it cannot make physical attacks, but it can fly and use light rays.
- Energy Halo (Su)
- At all times, a sun elemental is surrounded by a radiant glow that functions like a daylight spell. This glow can only be suppressed by a darkness effect with a caster level greater than the sun elemental’s hit dice.
- Regeneration (Ex)
- A sun elemental does not take normal damage from any source while in natural daylight. Dealing it nonlethal damage equal to its full normal hit points causes the elemental to revert to firestar form and its glow to dim. The elemental shines with full power once more when its regeneration heals enough nonlethal damage to bring it back to consciousness.
A sun elemental’s regeneration does not function at night, underground, or otherwise away fron natural sunlight. Thus the elemental may only be killed by hit point damage while out of natural daylight.
