Dimension door creates a shimmering doorway within Close range, large enough to allow a single creature through. The maximum size of a creature that may pass through the doorway is one size larger than your normal size for every five caster levels you possess. At the same time, a corresponding doorway is created at any point within Long range of you, provided you can visualize it (i.e. 900 feet straight down, 500 feet northeast, etc). The orientation of the doorway is at your discretion. Any creatures may step through as part of any movement action. They then exit the doorway at the destination. The doorway is visible from both sides, but only stepping through from one side will transport a creature.
Note that firing a missile, casting a spell, or using any other ranged attack or ability through the dimension door does not enable a character to thus extend that ability’s range; count the distance between the doorways against any range limitations inherent to the attack or ability. If a projectile, spell, or other effect does not have the range necessary to reach the exit doorway, it is lost in the space between realms that is created by the dimension door effect. Creatures passing through on their own power are not affected by this limitation; their mental energy propels them through without using up any of their physical movement.
If you attempt to place either the source or the destination doorway in a space that is occupied by a solid body, the spell fails.
