Boots of speed

As a free action, the wearer can click her boot heels together, causing the boots to double her movement speed. This increase in speed is an enhancement bonus (and thus does not stack with other enhancement bonuses to speed, e.g. from the haste spell). Only ground-based (walking) movement speed is affected, not flying or other movement modes. While hastened, the wearer gains a +4 dodge bonus to AC against attacks of opportunity provoked by movement.

There is no limit on how long the boots may function, but moving quickly for more than a few minutes at a time is tiring. The boots may be used for up to 10 minutes at a time without penalty, but using them for longer periods causes the wearer to become fatigued until she rests for an hour. The boots may be deactivated in the same manner as their activation (by clicking the boot heels together).
