Restoration works like lesser restoration, but has two of the following five effects (chosen at the time of casting).
(Regardless of which effects you choose, a character may only benefit from any of the restoration spells—including the lesser and greater versions—once per day.)
Dispel magical penalties to ability scores
As lesser restoration, except that the maximum caster level on the dispel check is +20, and up to two such effects can be dispelled.
Cure ability damage
As lesser restoration, except that restoration cures all damage (but not drain) to one of the subject’s ability scores (your choice, if more than one score is affected).
Alternatively, restoration can reduce the severity of the ability drain from one of the subject’s ability scores (your choice, if more than score is drained) by one step.
(You can cure both damage and drain, but each counts as a separate effect; i.e., with a single casting of restoration, you could cure all ability damage from one score and reduce the drain from another score by one step, etc.)
Treat disease
As lesser restoration, except that restoration improves the subject’s condition by three steps on the disease track. (But if a disease has not been removed, via remove disease or heal, restoration still cannot improve the subject beyond the latent/carrier step, if the disease has one.) Restoration can reverse the effects of certain unusual or supernatural diseases; see each disease’s description for details.
Remove fatigue
As lesser restoration, except that restoration removes all fatigue and exhaustion afflicting the target.
Remove negative levels
When used in this way, restoration can dispel temporary negative levels afflicting the target. Make a caster level check for each negative level (the DC is equal to 11 + the caster level of the effect, or 11 + the HD of the creature that caused the negative levels). Success means that the negative level is dispelled. On a failure, that negative level is not dispelled, but the subject receives a +4 bonus on the Fortitude save to remove the negative level (assuming the negative level lasts long enough to potentially become permanent).
Alternatively, restoration can remove one permanent negative level. (No caster level check is required in this case.) If this is one of the effects selected, the material component requirement is increased fivefold.
Material Component
Diamond dust worth 100 gp that is sprinkled over the target.
