Amulet of proof against evil
(neck)
This amulet is a thick silver disc on a heavy golden chain; set upon the disc is a gilded Pelor-sun symbol, with eight rays of rose gold, radiating from the sun like a compass rose. A small notch is set into the disc, at the “north” position.
The wearer of the amulet can rotate the Pelor-sun symbol, turning it clockwise. The sun can be turned in one-eighth-turn increments (one or more increments at a time), a total of one full turn per day. Once turned, the face of the sun glows gently, and begins very slowly to rotate back into its starting position. Each increment grants one hour of protection (for a total of eight hours per day). For the last 10 minutes of remaining protection (as the time remaining in the amulet’s activation ticks down), the sun’s glow begins to pulse gently; for the last minute, the glow pulses quickly, like a heartbeat.
While the amulet is glowing, the wearer is protected against mental control by evil creatures or effects, and against physical contact by evil summoned creatures, as the effects of the protection from evil spell. (He does not gain any bonuses to saving throws and Armor Class.)
